spreadsheet with selectable size

I wonder how difficult it would be to implement a spreadsheet that could
have a user-defined size, e.g.:

gnumeric -x10 -y5

(for 5 rows x 10 columns)

Then, "inserting rows" or "deleting columns" would really mean what it
should.

Just a crazy idea. Cheers. sjk.
