Gnumeric Crashing on Startup

I just upgraded my Debian system to the latest "unstable" files.  Now Gnumeric
fails to start up.  The error messages are:

  % gnumeric
  Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
    serial 88 error_code 2 request_code 45 minor_code 0
  Gdk-ERROR **: BadFont (invalid Font parameter)
    serial 89 error_code 7 request_code 47 minor_code 0

Any suggestions on what I should start looking for?

The Debian package is "gnumeric 0.72-0.2".
