how to convert a string to a reference?

I have the following problem:

I have a mutlisheet spreadsheet.
I want to have a function like:

=match(A3;indirect(concatenate(P2;"!A2:A6000"))

In A3 I have a date, I P2 I have a sheet name.
I want to find the row number in which the A3 date appears in sheet P2.
The function above doesn't work. 

What is the proper way to do it?
