Yes this is definitely something that will be added.  There are
various approaches in the tree now.  Python, CORBA, and GB are being
tried.  However, none of them are not intended for production use.
We don't have time to work on a good api before 1.0 freezes and we
don't want to get stuck with a poor api.  This will be a focus after
1.0.
