Re: Preparing to release

We're targeting Sunday 24 Sept for the next release date. Its been
a busy summer and there are lots of improvements and additions.
Before the release a few areas could use extra testing and
preparation.

1) WARNING TO DISTRIBUTIONS
Gnumeric now depends on an additional module.
       Gnome Application Libraries (gal).
It has not been officially released yet, and is only available
from CVS. There will be a tarball release before Gnumeric goes
   out.

2) Gnumeric users who use locales other than C/POSIX
There has been a lot of improvement in support for other locales.
   Please try
        - typing accented characters (no wide character support yet)
        - editing number formats with decimal points other than '.'
        - saving and loading sheets with values formated using
          formats
        - saving a sheet in 1 locale and loading in another.

GRAPHS :
There is now basic support for creating graphs via Guppi in the
Bonobo version of Gnumeric. Gnumeric can only access a tiny
fraction of Guppi's functionality as yet but we can already
display a significant subset of MS excel (tm)'s chart types.

Bonobo is not yet a frozen api and
IS NOT YET PART OF THE RELEASED GNOME PLATFORM.

People are welcome to try the graphs for themselves using CVS
HEAD Gnumeric, Bonobo, and Guppi3. However, please do not
package the Bonobo version of Gnumeric for general distribution.
It is not as well tested or as stable as the released version.

Thanks

What about documentation, especially Gnumeric tutorial?
Is it going to be updated?
