Hi,
There are Gnote build issues with boost 1.46. The issue is with boost
filesystem. I have fixed the autotools problem, but there still remains
the problem with filesystem version 3.
Version 3 of boost filesystem is a bit different API. Current Gnote code
have some filesystem related version checks, resulting in different code
for boost >=1.36 and for older. But it appears, that these check do not
work!
As now we are facing the problem of adding the third piece of code, I
think it's time to bump the required version of boost to 1.36.
I have proposed patches for that here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=641416
If someone knows good reasons why we should still support 1.34 and 1.35,
please speak now. I'm going to push the patches soon.
And the other, bigger issue - GTK 3.0.
I managed to compile Gnote on GTK 3.0, but unfortunately it didn't run,
seems to be issues with Fedora rawhide...
ATM I'm splitting the changes to separate patches.
The strategy I'm going to follow is to push to current master all
patches, that do not require changing the required versions of GTK and
co. For the rest of patches, I think of pushing them to a separate
branch (probably called gnome3). What do you think of it?
BTW, it's quite a time to start thinking about the new release. Debarshi?
