Hi,

Anyone know why the g.711 codec doesn't show up in the list of audio codecs. Apparently it is meant to be one of the better ones to use, quality wise ... is that codec even available for Linux, and if so, how do you get it compiled in ..

Thanks,
Bernard

Judging from :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.711
and from http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.711 (if you can read French),
g.711 is quite obsolete now. But it is still used for compatibility purposes.

Anyway Ekiga has g.711 (see in the ekiga.org homepage). If I understand correctly, that should be the PCMA and PCMU codecs (g.711 A-law and g.711 µ-law).
