I am using the ALSA sound driver.  I got gnomemeeting from
gnomemeeting-0.98.4.tar.gz.

Are you using OSS or ALSA?
That chipset is sometimes problematic and doesn't support the frequency
requested by GnomeMeeting. Using ALSA and also GnomeMeeting CVS with
native ALSA support should fix that problem.
