Seems like a wrong library version. Change your working directory to src, 
execute the command you have writtten below, but add the '-Wl,-t' option 
(attention, the second letter is a lowercase 'L'), so you have something like 
c++ -O3 -Wl,-t -l/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib.....

This should give some output pointing to the libraries the linker tries to 
link with. Check if it is the correct version.
