Ok, Damien
I followed your advice and went for the gnomemeeting-0.94.2.tar.gz at
0.94.2... dir
but still no success...
First I have to state that I already experimented version 0.94.1 from
gnomemeeting-0.94.1-3.i386.rpm but I just wanted to upgrade and see the
changes ...
I'm using Linux version 2.4.19 (root peterpan) (gcc version 3.2 20020903
(Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7)),
openh323-1.9.10-4 and pwlib-1.3.11-1.
I tried the ./configure from gnomemeeting-0.94.2 dir and it reported
some missing libs and
probably pkgconfig not being installed .I checked and the libs where
there and pkgconfig was not,
so I downloaded and decompressed pkgconfig-0.14.0.tar.gz and run
./configure from it's dir .
I noticed a few "...no " from the output and checked it out :
checking for working aclocal-1.4... missing
checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake-1.4... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... missing
So, I installed autoconf-2.53-8 and automake-1.6.3-1 from the rpm's in
the distro cd's
( I didn't find rpm's for the others ) and run config again .
Here is the same part afterwords :
checking for working aclocal-1.4... missing
checking for working autoconf... found
checking for working automake-1.4... missing
checking for working autoheader... found
checking for working makeinfo... missing
( I realize it looks for automake-1.4... and I installed 1.6.3 ... )
I think this is why, after configure, make and make install the only .pc
files
I have in the system is gnome-mime-data-2.0.pc at /usr/lib/pkgconfig and
therefore
configuring gnomemeeting isn't working .
Here's the last part of the output :
checking for pkg-config... /usr/local/bin/pkg-config
checking for libgnomeui-2.0 >= 1.112.0 linc >= 0.5.0 libbonobo-2.0 >=
2.0.0 esound >= 0.2.28... Pack age libgnomeui-2.0 was not found in
the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libgnomeui-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'libgnomeui-2.0' found
configure: error: Library requirements (libgnomeui-2.0 >= 1.112.0 linc
>= 0.5.0 libbonobo-2.0 >= 2.0 .0 esound >= 0.2.28) not met;
consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your
li braries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
How would I adjust the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable and would
that solve the problem?
The mentioned libraries are all installed from the distro rpm's in the
/usr/lib dir ...
I would appreciate a little help .
Thanks .
P.S. : If you need the full output from configuring pkgconfig let me
know and I'll post it
right away .

Hello,
if you are new to Linux, perhaps it is not a good idea to try to compile
gnomemeeting from CVS, you will also need to take latest stable versions
of openh323 and pwlib on openh323.org/bin
If you still want to do it, autogen.sh behaves exactly the same as
configure, just run it like you would run configure.

This is probably a stupid question but comes from someone that knows
little about Linux
but wants to know a little more ...
The gnomemeeting-latest and gnomemeeting-2002-12-... files under
http://www.gnomemeeting.org/admin/downloads/latest/snapshots/ don't have
the
configure file .How are they installed?
Tank you .
