Oh, don't. These things happen.
But it's nice to know that it was a problem with the code. Hopefully,
that will make the "gcc 2.96 is bad" FUD trolls shut up for a moment,
and we can use the mailing list bandwidth for more serious discussions.

I have a similar problem -- if I use the Sawfish's close button with
0.12, I get:

Gtk-WARNING **: invalid class type `(unknown)' in cast to
`GnomeAppBar'

  GnomeUI-CRITICAL **: file gnome-appbar.c: line 570
(gnome_appbar_push):
  assertion `GNOME_IS_APPBAR(appbar)' failed.

  Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from `(unknown)' to `GtkObject'

  Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkobject.c: line 1080 (gtk_object_get_data):
  assertion `GTK_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed.

...on the console, and gnomemeeting crashes with a segmentation fault.
I reported this as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66156.

It was. Every release is a happy event. But these things happen.
Sometimes there are critical bugs that warrants a new release soonish.
Rinse, repeat. That's life :-)
Don't worry too much about it. Also, never forget that the people on the
mailing list aren't necessarily representative for the majority of GM
users -- we don't know that. So don't worry too much about complaints.

PS. There is also another bug (with the splash window) that I reported,
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66158. DS.
