I have seen the same behaviour with my Philips ToUcam pro camera (usb).
I have GM 2 snapshot 20051107 CVS version.
Everything was working well when I switched back to my old fireware
camera.

I thought it was a pwc driver issue...

May i ask which camera are you using? I am dissapointed with Philips
camera because of driver certainly. This can be a starting point to a 
"Which camera (hw in general) is known to work under GM?" FAQ.
