[GnomeMeeting-devel-list] Re: gnomemeeting crashes my router ...

Ok.

My question regarding this wasn't quite so technically aimed, and of
course my router is running the latest available firmware, which isn't
exactly saying much.

I am more concerned that ISP/telco operations are doing some very
surreptitious things to promote their own VoIP businesses at our
expense. I was (and am) interested to know if others had any bad
connectivity experiences in this regard.

I decided to reconfigure our network, and have turned my test box into a
gateway, revoking routing priviledges from the router and running up
roaring penguin on the gateway.

Now that I have done this, gnomemeeting miraculously registers me with
iptel.org and is working wonderfully.

I am now left wondering whether or not the cause is entirely down to a
dumb router (and that running a decent OS and pppd software is the
entire solution).

If anyone has any comments about analysing this, please do respond,
otherwise I shall just give thanks to my favourite pagan deities and
contemplate Asterisk ...

Cheers, Alan
