In Skype, typing a telconf phone number and, then click on the tab
then use the mouse to type the call confirmation numbers is a pain.
I think there is a number of "common use cases" like this, and trying
to derive the UI by optimizing a set of well defined use cases is I
think the GUI design recommmended approach. We I for sure find Skype
to not be that great for the most common operations. trying to make
sure everything can be done easilly with just keyboard access is
also important. Tabs are nice but you should never have to use it to
establish maintain or stop a communication. Using them for access to
extra features non-critical to communication would be okay though I
think.

  my 2 cents,

Daniel
