Would it be possible to do the same with eds as eds only became part
of GNOME in 2.8 as well and while you can compile it with out eds by
disabling gnome it would be nice to have gnome support without the
need for eds.

The still running FC1 and 2 with a slow 28.8 modem Pete :-)
