Devel control center and sound

Hello,
Since I started playing with the devel control center I cannot get
sounds for events. A couple of things I have noticed:
1) The new capplet does not write the ~/.gnome/sound/system file.
2) By copying in my old ~/.gnome/sound/system I can get esd to start.
This allows sawfish to play sounds for it's events but GNOME apps are
still silent.

Any one know why?

PS-> Is the ability to specify specific sounds for events coming to the
new control center soon?
