fun with corba

if you have gtkhtml with gconf enabled, the capplet doesn't quite work
right.  this is because libcapplet initializes gnorba, and the capplet
uses oaf to reach gconf.

gnorba sets up the request validator thing (which seems to be a global
function pointer) - this breaks oaf/gconf, and you get things like this
when you hit ok:

    ORBit-WARNING **: Request notify, ID -1073745964 was rejected by the
    authentication mechanism!

i don't really know of a solution to this - other than the capplet
forking of another process to do the gconf notification.
