On the other hand, according to Murray Cumming (IRC), no proper Plone
l10n seems to be possible as of writing, and I couldn't find any plans
when it would be available.
This is not correct, Plone has an existing, proven solution for
localization of content called LinguaPlone[1] that has been in production
for several years, as well as the next-generation version of this,
currently called plone.multilingual, which is headed up by Ramon.
I know Ramon has been silent lately, but he told me that he's wrapping up
his current work by Feb 15th, and that we'll see more from him after that
date. I'm also committed to help out the GNOME project once there is a way
for me to do so — e.g. if there is any facilitation needed to get features
added to Plone or LinguaPlone to support the GNOME use cases.
We're also doing a translation push[2] for Plone 3.1 to bring the support
up to 40 languages, which covers over 99% of the online population at the
moment. This is an area that I hope we can get help from GNOME's
translation team eventually. :)
