Well, seeing as I really have no guide to go on as far as content, I
didn't really know what to put in the center. I just sort of used a
place-holder to show what could possibly go there. The centerpiece is
not meant to be the feature, it's meant to be the content - whatever
that is. I already used a short blurb about GNOME above the bar, but we
could go into furthur detail below. I think though, that if someone
wants to know much more than the basic idea (which is already there),
they should go to the about page. This site is targeted at a wide range
of people, and I would assume that developers and people who already
know what GNOME is make up the majority of the site visits. We want
repeat visitors, and the way to keep people coming back is new and
updated content - not a huge "ABOUT GNOME" paragraph on the front.
We seem to have a navigation scheme planned out that could be used on
this comp, but we don't have any content plans. Are we using the current
front page content? Maybe we should plan out exactly what we want on the
index page. What is needed, and what we would like to see worked in.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on that... I'll try to work some more colors
into the comp so we can see how that looks.

I wouldn't mind seeing a little more color (using either Joakim's or Digitect's color thoughts) thrown in there though. Also, I'm sure that top bar could be refined a bit, but I think that it is heading in the right direction. I like your use of icons. However, are we ever going to have a "Feature"? Being that your comp makes that the centerpiece, we might want to consider what's more important there....like a blurb about GNOME and free software. I like the DHTML menu thing, as long as it works across browsers and fails gracefully. It saves bandwidth by letting people get straight to what they want. Very useful for modem/impatient users. So, overall, I think that it is heading in the right direction. Still needs some work though.
