There wasn't anything particularly inflammatory in that thread... at least it wasn't meant to be. ("Monkey boy" may have set a "negative tone", but it typically gets attention and nothing was inferred by it.) And I wouldn't call it a true "flame war" as no one's mother was brought into it.
I was trying to make a point that a call to defaulting to English doesn't indicate language insensitivity just personal preference (from someone who doesn't natively speak English no less) and perhaps pragmatism. All voices should be heard, not just yelled at.
