On the other hand, if libsoup can implement what you
want rather easily and if libsoup is likely to become
part of the GNOME desktop and, perhaps, platform, then
using libsoup with GnomeVFS would be preferable to
avoid library bloat.  How many networkng libraries do
we really need?  It sounds like the Ximian guys are
willing to work with you to make libsoup fit your
needs and that libsoup will be an actively maintained
(and used) library by GNOME developers.  These factors
appear to be big benefits for the choice of libsoup
over neon.
