desktop icons for mounted usb drives etc

Hello,


in older versions of Linux (Centos/RHEL) and icon  would appear on the 
gnome desktop when a usb stick, or USB drive was mounted.


In a later version, in Centos and RHEL 8, that seems to be not the 
default setting.

How can that be "turned" back on?
