I somewhat agree, but you don't think "The White Cliffs of Dover" has
jingoistic overtones too?  Or am I just showing my age? :)

Oh, probably, but at least it's a natural feature rather than a product of the state. I'm not sure what other scene would do: I think the other recognisable options are mostly London, and the world has quite enough London-centricism already.

Or, hey, how about Stonehenge?
