ANNOUNCE: gtk-css-engine 0.1 released

The CSS Theme Engine for Gtk+, Version 0.1 is available for download.

What is this?
-------------

The Cascading Style Sheet Theme Engine for the GNU is Not UNIX Tool
Kit Plus (commonly just `CSS Engine') is an experimental theme engine
reading styling information from CSS rather than the traditional gtkrc
format.

The engine has only seen very limited testing and is not suited for
desktop-wide use at this point in time. Currently The Widget Factory
[1] is the recommended way for working with the CSS engine.

Thanks goes out to the #gnome-art residents who have provided valuable
feedback, in particular Benjamin Berg who knows just about everything
about Gtk+ and theming, and Andreas Nilsson who has been so intrepid
to start assembling a theme despite all odds, missing functionality
and copious bugs. The result of Andreas' efforts so far, a port of the
`Gilouche' theme by Jakub Steiner and Garrett LeSage can be marvelled
at http://www.gnome.org/~robsta/gtk-css-engine/0.1/Gilouche-CSS-0.1.png
.

It should not come as a surprise that documentation is sparse at the
moment, but those intrigued enough to squeeze the below tarballs
through their decompressor of choice might find the one or other line
of explanatory text in the traditional README file.

However, while you are reading this, chances are that, unless the
author is still enjoying holiday in a faraway country, bitrot has
already bitten, and you may be better off getting the freshest, which
would be, in this case,
http://bzr-playground.gnome.org/~robsta/gtk-css-engine/ .
