I think you have the same problem even if you aren't using the
scheme we've talked about. (And I doubt you'll ever notice a
slowdown with dynamic libs).
But you raise a good point. Perhaps there should be a way for
a theme to provide a set of generic attributes that can be used
by widgets the theme doesn't even know about?
