Hi GSoC/OPW -ers!
Congratulations to everyone for getting your project accepted. I am thrilled to be joining you all this summer. The contributions I have seen on the pages so far are dazzling! I can tell I will have my work ahead of me to keep up with the pace of you all.
A bit about me and my project:
My name is Magdalen (magpie on IRC). I study Physics at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and this summer I will be working on a cooperative project between the teams from gnome-shell and a11y.
Quest: To implement caret and focus tracking within GNOME Shell.
So far I have received a wealth of support from my fantastic mentors
; Joseph Scheuhammer Joanmarie Diggs, Alejandro Piñeiro, Mike Gorse, Rui Matos, and Juanjo Marín. Adding caret and focus tracking to GNOME Shell offers various benefits. [1] This work will allow the magnifier to display current keyboard
focus. [2] The magnifier is there to assist GNOME users with low vision [3] .
If you want to ping me on IRC please do. I will keep adding to the project page and posting with fortnightly project updates once coding gets going. [4] I will keep an eye out for your projects, too!
All the best of luck in achieving your goals!
Magdalen
