This would be me. However, after discussing it with the GNOME people
administering the Summer of Code for GNOME, we agreed it wasn't a
great project to propose as a SoC. Indeed, it's really hard to plan in
advance what difficulties will be encountered nor to know if the
project can be successful in 3 months or not.

You can still apply for it if you feel strongly about it, and we can
talk privately about it if you want, but you're application on this
topic will have to be very compelling to be selected :)
