Hi,

I think having a collaborative editor is a great idea. Having such a feature in a popular editor like Gedit will be a welcome feature for users. (Vim was only an example editor) I request the developers to please have a look at it again.

This doesn't seem GNOME related.  You might want to check if an
organization related to Vi was accepted into GSoC.
