I'm also compiling gnome 2.0.1 right now. The make install errors are all
because html/index.sgml doesn't exist. one way to get around is to touch
the index.sgml file that make install complains it can't find. It means
that you will have an empty index.sgml installed in the documentation area
but I don't think that is a big deal.

I had the same thing happen. I have Slackware 8.1 and it ships with the
required Python version. I didn't want to take the time to track this
down too much so I just ignored it and went ahead. So far everything is
fine.
Note that it is import to give the right ./configure arguments when
configuring scrollkeeper. Read the README and the INSTALL files. The
instructions are right at the top so that you getyour scrollkeeper docs in
the right place.
