Applying the Blur effect to the menus background.

Hi. I've been trying to apply the blur effect to the menus, but I've had problems with this. In the 
documentation of Clutter says that with BlurEffect applies this effect to the component and its children. 
This works for the children but if my component is semi-transparent the effect is not applied to its 
background and this is precisely my goal.

Any help is appreciated.
