legacy tray / topicons plus in wayland gnome-shell

Hello here,

I recently tested Wayland in Fedora 24, and noticed that icons in the legacy tray are unresponsive.

I am aware of this statement about status icons not going to be supported in Wayland:

But it is unofficial and quite dated.

So, is it really confirmed? Won't it be fixed in future releases?

If so, I may stop maintaining the topicons plus extension... Because, as is, it is broken and useless under 
Wayland.

I am trying to get an official answer, but no reply on IRC and I don't know any other way to reach 
developpers.
