I once heard about AppMenu, which integrated the menu in the window name button (which now only shows "Quit" as the only entry). I too hope this will be available someday (either by default or as an extension)

Hi to all, I have a little netbook, and I think that if we integrate
the applications menu bar with the gnome-shell bar, we could gain some
10 usefull pixels...I know that gs bar is intended for the system, but
sometimes efficiency is required...
