Thanks, but sadly, they do not really help me.
Actually my problem isn't much about the time it takes.
It's more about the distraction it introduces.
I just don't want my windows to change. I don't want them to move any pixel.
Thus, changing the animation speed doesn't help. Not animating wouldn't
help either
as long as there's the specific layout of the applications.
i.e. if I have 3 windows on the workspace, I don't want any of them to
move, which means
actually no re-layout of the windows... which the current gnome-shell
will do anyway
in the current overview system.
But is there any simple way to isolate some of the overview components,
to display them
in the current workspace ?
For example, toggling the dash / menu by pressing a key combination,
or displaying the search + results...
