It already shows a separator line to indicate what apps are running on a
different workspace.  If it wouldn't show the other workspaces' apps,
then the only way to switch to another app/task was to get to the
overview, click the right workspace, then the right app.  IMHO, that's
too much inconvenience for tasks you frequently switch to for a few
seconds, e.g., quickly checking mail.

I don't know if I'd like that.  For terminals, that would definitively
be an improvement over the current behavior.  For most apps, I'm not
sure.  And for several other apps, that simply won't work.  For example,
there is no way to have more than one Skype instance running.
