Creo que gnome3 se esta orientando hacia las tables, o computadoras con pantalla tactiles...
por ello ha evolucionado de la forma como esta ahora....

Una sugerencia a los desarrolladores de gnome, esque gnome3 debe de tener cinco botones,
en su barra superior (principal), para ir directamente a estas opciones
1)actividades
2)aplciaciones
3)escritorio
4)terminal
5)Navegador web

para ir directamente a cualquiera de las opciones que el usuario quisiera ingresar...
asi seria mucho mas rapido y sencillo de entrar a un programa, ver mis aplicaciones
que tengo ejecutandose o ver el escritorio

una muy buena interfaz es la de hildon de maemo ya que utiliza librerias gtk (antes que estubiera meego)
