switch windows of an application: behaviour

Hi,
i set ctrl+tab as a shortcut to "switch windows of an application"; if I
had evolution and one "new message" window it would be perfect. But if i
have two "new message" windows, ctrl+tab doesn't see the third. 
"Switch windows of an application" only switches between TWO windows of
the same app (at least it seems to me so). 
Also if i have three instances of evince running, each with its pdf
opened, with ctrl+tab i can only switch between two of them. If i wanted
to see the third (or more) window i'd have to use alt+escape, which
wouldn't distinguish between applications

It would be cool if ctrl+tab handled more than two win of the same apps,
be them different instances (multiple evince with multiple pdfs) or
different windows of the same instance (evolution with its children
win).
