I also don't like the hotspot in the upper left (I'm always hitting it when switching Chrome tabs, and I also moved my close/min/max to the left).  If I had a choice, I'd move it to the bottom-left.  I tried using this extension to move it to the top-right:

... but it doesn't quite work in Linux Mint 12, so I deactivated it.
