Re: To Scroll or To Zoom?

Bah!

I am finding the 'Windows' Zoom feature rather redundant in Overview
mode -- using the centre (scroll) mouse button.  One would expect that
to scroll to the next workspace like with 'Applications'.  It should
make the UX uniform across the favourites tab, Window Area, and
Workspace Switcher.
Even more so when the Application picker becomes paginated and "killing mode switch" is implemented, because both views would look very much alike but scrolling would have a very different effect.

Has this been discussed before?

Might be better to use Alt+Centre-Mouse-Scroll-Button for the Zooming if
people use that feature and have the Roulette Scroll happening by
default. What do you guys think?

I had the same idea, but I would propose Ctrl as a modifier, instead of Alt, for consistency with many applications. However, this would create another problem: Zooming would be impossible with mouse only.

Compiz Scale uses right click for zoom, but I always found that a very akward behavior. I don't have a better idea though.

Onyeibo
