If that's the entirety of the message you receive, please try and get
a backtrace:

If the shell crashes and your desktop doesn't "disappear", you may be
able to reduce those steps down
without using a second computer:

$ ./gnome-shell -rg

...
(gdb) r

Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.
...
(gdb) t a a bt
#0  0x00007ffff1d52b8d in ......

(gdb) call gjs_dumpstack()
...

Paste all that information into a file and attach it or upload it somewhere.
