I wish I could. I know nothing about programming on GTK or linux shell environment, at least for now.
May I ask why compact version was not chosen as default? Windows or OS X or even Chrome have been favoring utilizing space for displaying contents.

Requests for a compact version of Adwiata (the G3 theme) seem to come up
frequently, and as a user of a netbook I sympathize.
Does anyone want to volunteer to write a compact version of Adwiata with
smaller fonts, margins, padding, etc?
