Loosing chat messages

Speaking of which, how could I prevent Gnome Shell from stealing
messages from Empathy?

I am loosing messages when running Gnome Shell. If I'm not quick enough
to catch it when it appears and move mouse over it - poof! it's gone!
Empathy does not have it in chat window, nor in user chat history.

I was very happy with Gnome Shell until the chat functionality was added
and started eating my messages.
