Will New Notifications Look Different?

Hello,

     According to the Gnome Shell features page,
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/Features, part of the "new graphical
technologies" is "Dynamic system-related information display
(including transient notifications)".

    Is this going to be a new notification system?  Is the UI or looks
of the notifications going to be different?  Will they look or act
like Ubuntu's notification system?  Thanks.
