There's nothing to stop you looking at the commit logs; it's what I do
to see in brief what's happened.

Briefly, cd into the ~/gnome-shell/source/gnome-shell directory, then do
"git log" to see the history. The other dirs in ~/gnome-shell/source
will have similar commit logs.

"git help log" for info on formatting the output, choosing specific
commits etc, or "gitk" (which accepts more-or-less the same options as
"git log") to have a graphical interface.
