Hi,

I am developing GChemPaint, a chemical editor for gnome, and needed also
to print pango layouts. I wrote a helper function which works for me but
probably does not support correctly non european languages. If you can
test it and tell me what does not work, I am very interested to add
necessary code to fix your problem at least for GChemPaint; I do not
know how and when it will be supported by gnome-print but I think it
would be instructive to do it.
The sources are available at
http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/gchempaint/unstable.pkg/0.3.6/gchempaint-0.3.6.tar.bz2
or preferably from cvs:
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs subversions gnu org:/cvsroot/gchempaint login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anoncvs subversions gnu org:/cvsroot/gchempaint co gchempaint

Regards,

Jean
