Re: [gpm] problem in installing latest version

Still have problem. I even tried to remove the current version (2.2.4) via synaptic, but it says removing gnome-power-manager causes to remove gnome-desktop also. So I don't know if I do this what will be the result? Any idea?

I used the original command as the gnome site said:

cd gnome-power-manager
sudo ./autogen.sh --prefix=/home/hughsie/root --enable-applets --with-gconf-source=xml::/home/hughsie/.gconf

The output of this command is:
                    GNOME Power Manager 2.27.1
                  =============================

        prefix:                    /home/hughsie/root
        datadir:                   ${datarootdir}
        compiler:                  gcc
        cflags:                    -g -O2
        Building extra applets:    yes
        DPMS support:              yes
        PolicyKit support:         no
        Legacy buttons support:    no
        Self test support:         no
        GConf default support:     no
        Docbook support:           no
        documentation dir:         ${datarootdir}/doc/gnome-power-manager-2.27.1
        dbus-1 system.d dir:
        dbus-1 services dir:       ${datarootdir}/dbus-1/services
        gconf-schema dir:          $(sysconfdir)/gconf/schemas

Now type `make' to compile gnome-power-manager

make
make install

After that I run 'make' and 'sudo make install'. The output of "sudo make install" is lengthy, but here are some of the last lines. If you need further information I will post (I don't know if it has a log or dump file).

Did it install to /opt -- what did make install say?

Richard.
