The category syncing bug should be fixed in Evolution 2.26.

However, note that there are several Contact fields that Evolution does
not support at present, including birthdays, anniversaries, photos, etc.
These are likely to be lost during syncing from Evolution to PDA.  I
would like to fix this, but have been held up with further Evo
development due to bug number 556061, a fix for which I have not yet
been able to get committed to Evolution.
