Yup, looks like when you enable Exchange Active sync on a palmOS device,
Versamail goes all or nothing on syncing. Deleting the exchange account
is the only solution to get Versamail to sync calendar and address book.
Note, this isn't a Gnome pilot bug, but rather a Palm bug.
Sorry if I'm repeating old information, wasn't able to find this info in
the mailing list archives. Here's the relevent info on the palm forums:

However, I do urge Ubuntu users to either upgrade to the beta if they
can or to at least make sure the pilot-link package is installed in
Ubuntu Hardy. Ibex appears to use the old 2.0.15 package and it syncs
the Treo 755p quite nicely.
