Synaptic has now updated the following and gpilotd is working again:

gnome-about (1:2.22.1-0ubuntu6.2) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1
gnome-desktop-data (1:2.22.1-0ubuntu6.2) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1
libgnome-desktop-2 (1:2.22.1-0ubuntu6.2) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1

Installed the following packages:
libmono-cairo2.0-cil (1.2.6+dfsg-6ubuntu3)
