And you tried pilot-xfer AFTER killing the gpilotd process from
listening for connections on that port, right?
Did you even hear the initial connect sound (the "tweedle-dee" sound)?
If you didn't, then something other than gnome-pilot or pilot-link is at
issue. Are you sure your visor module is loaded and functioning? Cable
securely plugged in? USB interfaces loaded and ready?
