If you don't want to use the CVS version of gnome-pilot, download
pilot-link 0.11.8. gnome-pilot works very well with this version.
But 0.11.8 won't support newer devices as well. There are some
"connectivity quirks" in the hardware of the new devices (T5 being one
good example), that will not work with 0.11.8.
